He that can have Patience, can have what he will” – Benjamin Franklin

patience Patience: The dictionary meaning of patience is to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay. It is one of the main pillars of self-discipline. If you have patience, you can achieve anything. It is a well known fact that in order to develop any qualities you got to have little patience.

If you are starting a new business, you can’t expect your business to take off over night. You will have to get customers, overcome many difficulties and sustain your business for quite some time before it settles. That is where patience comes into picture. If you are patient enough to carry your business during its initial profitless period, you will very well be on your way to create a successful business. However, if you dread the initial profitless period and other challenges faced by your business, you lack patience.

Patience teaches us many great things like importance of efforts. I still remember when I was young I had asked my mom to get me a bike. She promised me a bike on my birthday, but I didn’t get it. I had to beg her for another six or so months before she finally bought me a bike. But the joy of getting a bike after so much of patience was more than joy I would’ve had if I had simply got it. I was so happy that my efforts of pleading her, reminding her of her promise etc. finally came to fruition.

Patience is not easy to develop. It needs complete some persistence and dedication of one’s self. Also, it needs real world situations to develop patience. Below mentioned are some ways in which you can develop patience.

Ways to develop patience:

1. Take control of your mind: Whenever you are presented with a situation in which you have to wait for something like wait for something to arrive, your mind will not be quiet. It will think many negative things, most of which will probably never happen. If you control your mind and don’t give it space to thing randomly, you will be able to save lot of energy wasted in this thinking process and develop patience.

2. Don’t be harsh on others: Its very easy to get rough on people when things don’t turn out the way you expected them to. By being harsh on others you are not only showing that you lack care for others but also patience and self-control. If you can pull you act together at the time when you are struggling, you can develop patience.

3. Stay in present and focus on the goal: Focus is the main force driving us towards any goal. If you lose focus, you will take a big hit. No matter how long your path is keeping, the picture of the goal will always provide you a boost. It will provide necessary patience.

4. Meditation: Another great way to learn patience is to meditate. Meditation actually cools down your mind, which is thinking all sorts of random things at lightening speed, and brings it down at a much more controllable level. It directs your mind’s energy and makes it more focused. It is very easy to have patience when your mind is calm and focused.

Having patience is extremely necessary if you want to succeed. But if you put patience and persistence together, you can achieve whatever you want. However, patience and persistence takes each other to develop one another.
